If I asked you “what is the purpose of your life?” would you be able to answer? This is one of the single most important questions you could ever ask yourself and if you haven’t done so already, why not? Seriously, answer that question. What is a life without direction? Floating all over the place, hoping and wishing you get somewhere good or win the lottery. You want change but are not willing to do the work to get the change. You expect good things to happen yet negativity dominates your mind and heart. Maybe some people can get away with having little to no structure for their lives but for the majority, having little to no structure is debilitating to ones life and that emptiness will soon catch up. Maybe one has enough structure to plan their day but taking a few steps back to look at the bigger picture– is there a definite direction? If you knew the purpose of your life, don’t you think there would be less time spent on feeling lost, confused, helpless, hopeless, depressed, purposeless and so forth? No matter how good, bad or unplanned any day could be, you always have the purpose of your life to fall back on. If all else fails– keep your eye on the prize and that prize is the never-ending abundance you can experience by following your purpose. Most of us live day-to-day, paycheck to paycheck, fear to fear, uncertainty to uncertainty. If I’m not mistaken– life is to be lived and enjoyed. We all experience suffering but there is a difference from using that to add to your character to grow or wallow in it and feel like a victim (which by the way, victims are not real). What will you choose?
How would you feel knowing you made a difference in someone’s life? I don’t care how closed-hearted or cold someone is– love is our natural state and anyone can be brought to that by feeling needed, loved and accepted by others. Fulfilling one’s life purpose has those feelings written all over it. How would you feel knowing you left behind one hell of an amazing legacy to those traveling the World after you trying to find their way?
So now, the question– What is the purpose of your life?! Why are you here?! I know your purpose was not to sit on your hiney wasting all of your time drinking, smoking, fighting and whatever else wastes away your body, mind and spirit. Maybe a person needed to experience those, however, to experience true gratitude and happiness and from then on– live out his/her life purpose.
So, a quick outline you can use that I learned from Tony Robbin’s workshop– “The purpose of my life is to create an abundant life, to laugh and love everyday and to give back to those less fortunate.” –This is just an example– Make sure you have yourself and you also incorporate others into it. A selfish life is a wasted life. Human’s live off of the love and touch of others. Human nature. We are all connected and to focus a little more on that in a positive way would add so much more happiness to your life. Your mission statement should be something you can live out and add to everyday.
Having written this out– (and don’t put too much thought, let the words flow…) will give you a more solid and clear direction in your life. Immediate vibrance and gratification is brought back to your life. It’s so sad to see “wasted life”– do something about it! CHANGE! You have the power to do this! Keep this in mind: It takes JUST as much effort to live in joy as it does to suffer. The hard part is changing the habit but it is SO possible.
